  Ive been to The Engine Room about ten times now and am yet to be anywhere near even vaguely disappointed. My only problem with the place is that it has rendered the pork belly from pretty much anywhere else almost inedible.

About The Engine Room in Northshore

A former post office, circa 1930, with loads of character in Northcote Point, just 5 minutes from Downtown Auckland.

Keeping in sync with the era of the building, splashes of colour, come from a personal collection of 1930s Australian Depression Glass. There are homely touches of bowls of fresh produce, bookshelves laden with cookbooks and always a home-made tart on the kitchen counter. And an open kitchen to check out the action.

The Engine Room is a small neighbourhood bistro operated by Natalia, Carl and their small team. Their aim is to provide an informal and fun environment with a concise menu and wine list.

Concentrating on premium local produce, including home grown goods, the menu is made up of a combination of classic bistro dishes along with International and local favourites. Check out the Twice-baked Goats Cheese Souffl, Steak Frittes, Thai Prawn Salad, Middle Eastern Rare Beef, Pomegranate and Date Salad, Churros con Chocolate, Pavlova with home-grown passion fruit, oh, and handmade Valrhona Chocolate Truffles!

Bookings are essential to avoid disappointment.
